What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Detail; the better an event organiser can picture their event the more accurately can quote and, more often than not, we can give them what ultimately ends up a better deal. Right down to the finer details, have a think about how you would like your bar service to run (glassware, straws, cocktails etc.). We find that the best way to do this is to set a budget and let your supplier inform you of the options that budget allows for.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do thorough research. There are a lot of mobile bar companies who crop up one minute and are nowhere to be seen the next. Look for industry experience, past reviews, great photographs and also what they're doing out with making drinks (sustainability, mental health support, help for the elderly). All of these things show not only a business' values but also their versatility- if they can get a party going in a nursing home, imagine the energy at your summer BBQ!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I had plenty of experience behind the bar and had always fancied running my own, however, the market in Scotland has been somewhat strangled by a multitude of factors ( smoking ban, drink driving, overregulation) which has vastly reduced the appeal of starting fixed premises. Besides, working mobile is far more interesting- literally no two days are ever the same!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

It sounds cliché but we really are spoilt for choice on this one as we have had many bookings through Add to Event. We've done mobile cocktail bars on campsites, halfway up Ben Nevis, on Loch Lomond so on so forth. We actually did a 007 themed party at the weekend where they had hired a mobile casino as well- that was super cool. We went all out on the cocktails with smokes, foams etc.- we even had a ''Gold Fashioned'' on the menu (an old fashioned with an edible gold garnish). Won't forget that in a hurry!
