What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
The more information for the quote, the better. Generally, not one hiring structure suits all and we like to be as flexible as possible for our clients. The more information we have about the venue, the event type, number of guests, timings, facilitates available etc, the better we can tailor our services for our clients. We like to partner with our customers, and develop a relationship and rapport so we can deliver the best possible service.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We would always suggest to check out the supplier of choice. Take a look at their profiles, their website, social media pages, images and customer reviews. The more you know about a company, the better you can gauge their experience and professionalism. Better still within the pop up mobile bar industry - check out if they are taking part in any events locally, and go an visit them to what they are really like in action!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The Caravan Bar Company was born from a passion of 'pop-up catering' and hospitality experience, all pulled together in an exquisitely restored 1960’s caravan. Matt and I have worked in the hospitality and events sector for a number of years and just loved seeing the boom in the 'Food Truck' culture. We wanted to do something quirky and fun and absolutely fell in love with the idea of a unique mobile bar. We wanted to do something that hadn't been done before, and would add a real wow factor to our customer's events. We found our original 1960's Vanmaster Caravan on eBay, and it certainly needed a lot of love to bring it up to the standard our customers would expect, but we worked tirelessly on the restoration (with the help of a very skilled carpenter), pulling in all our expertise in the drinks industry and marketing skills - and now we love touring the UK providing a truly unique bar service to all our happy clients!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event has been a such an integral part of our business strategy - it really is the one-stop-shop for event planning and we've been inundated with requests over the last couple of years.
One particular event that we really enjoyed was a big Tipi festival-style wedding which we provided the bar service for last summer near Manchester. The weather was awesome, the views were stunning, and the 230+ guests were kept happily hydrated throughout the course of the day/evening (...and into the early hours!). The caravan works really well in such a setting and creates a real focal point for guests. The bride and groom were so happy with their choice of bar, and the photographer got some great shots of the wedding antics alongside The Caravan Bar.
