What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote and to confirm our availability, we would require the date, approximate timings and location of the event.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We recommend all customers check that any climbing wall provider holds National Governing Body Qualifications (some companies have no formal climbing qualifications), a thorough Risk Assessment to include safeguarding policy, DBS checks, minimum £5m public liability insurance and First Aid qualifications. Also, check out websites and ask for testimonials.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
VerticalXtreme was started by two Scout Leaders in 2007. We already had 25 years of experience teaching/taking children and adults of all ages climbing and abseiling, held professional climbing qualifications and had a customer based lined up - so we bought a climbing wall. We never advertise and our diary fills up a year in advance!
