JP the DJ is a mobile disco and event lighting supplier based in Aberdeenshire who likes to specialise in all day weddings, providing the soundtrack to the day from the ceremony right through to the evening party. Talk to your supplier is the advice they give here, along with their story.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To offer a quote to all customers I ideally require the following information, the proposed date of the event, the location or venue and the timings of the event. I can be very flexible with regards to these, and if required offer advice on venues & locations across the North of Scotland. I have been a Professional DJ for 15 years and worked in the hospitality industry for 19 years in total.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The best advice that I can give anyone looking to book a DJ for their party is meet with them, either face to face or by Skype, etc. so you get a feel for them and they can explain the services that they can offer you. Ensure that you are satisfied with their responses before you commit to booking with them.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started out as JP the DJ in 2013 when I relocated to North East Scotland, prior to that I was a DJ in bars & clubs in the North West of England. Making the switch from pubs to clubs was a refreshing change, and I soon realised that I preferred mobile discos over being in the same DJ booth week in, week out. I like the challenge of no two events being the same, and knowing that I make events memorable makes me happy.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
The first booking that I received through Add to Event was probably my most memorable one, the lady that booked me was celebrating her 40th birthday and was looking for someone to provide karaoke for the evening. I sent her my quote and she responded saying that she'd get back to me once she had secured a venue, so I offered to help her find one local to her as I know the area quite well. I recommended a few venues and she contacted them to see if they were available which the first one was. When the date of the party arrived it was a really good night with a mixture of all ages, and the most memorable part of the night was a father and son duo that requested to sing Gangnam Style. Needless to say, their Korean wasn't the best and the only words of the song that the actually knew were the title! They danced for the whole song though, so fair play to them!
