What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
It is most important to know the date as if we do not have a date, then it could be pointless as we might not be available. It is good to know the start and end times and venue. The number of guests indicates to us how much equipment we need to bring, as this also influences the price. They share several useful tips to consider when booking a DJ.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't judge on price alone. If you only seek the lowest price, you may miss some valuable aspects of a quality DJ. It is worth checking reviews on here, but also on other sites. Check they have PAT tested equipment (essential for some venues) and Public Liability Insurance. It is worth seeing the quality of equipment they use. For instance, there is a big difference between how a laptop and a cheap speaker sounds and a quality sound system and decks.
It is worth knowing if your DJ can also act as Master of Ceremonies for both weddings and corporate events. Seeing pictures on an email response, Facebook, Instagram and their website is also a good indication of what your DJ will bring to your event.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
SGDJ Ltd is the continuation of SG Discos, founded by Sam Gould in 1999. When Sam passed away from Bowel Cancer in 2017, I bought the company assets from the estate to continue what I had been operating for Sam for 10 years.
I have always loved music and even DJed at my own 18th! I just come into it thanks to Sam years later when he wanted someone to run the DJ business as he extended into other businesses.
We pride ourselves in reliability and quality. It is also fantastic to be bringing happiness to others through the medium of music and to deliver a high level of customer service.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Guy's 50th was such fun! He had a teepee and a drinks reception in the field near his home. I was working alongside an events management company he hired called Hawthorn. They provided lighting and gave technical support to the whole evening. I realised that for a teepee people can be quite spread out. I chose to bring subs and top speakers, and an additional speaker for the outside drinks reception. This gave clarity for the sound without being too loud.
It was a pleasure to work with Guy and to entertain a group of people so ready to party! We extended the party time by an hour and the dance floor rocked on!
I am pleased with the customer service from Add to Event. the staff are happy to give advice and unlike some other 3rd party platforms you can speak to a human being if you need. I am glad to have found you to have found the above and some other bookings :-) Thank you, yes I would.
