Here they share some of their insights on key information you need to know when booking your supplier.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide a comprehensive quote we ideally require the event date, the location and the likely number of attendees (give or take 10% either way). We have various bar setups so its also great to know whether the event is inside or outside so we can quote accordingly! With this information to hand we are able to provide a detailed quotation pretty quickly!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Most importantly, make sure that your provider if they have the relevant insurances and certification in place. In our experience, too many part-time mobile bar businesses take short cuts and don't gain the relevant qualifications. Also, try and use full-time professionals if possible, they complete events all through the year and will make sure that your event is successful, they have to as their business depends on it! We have been full-time for 3 years and it was only when we made the decision that we realised what a difference it makes in terms of professionalism.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The Ginistry was set up by David and Myself (2 brothers) as a part-time project a few years back! We previously worked in sales for alcohol providers and decided that it was time to take the plunge and set up our own business. Our passion was Gin and Gin related cocktails, as that was what we had tried to sell previously! We set up before the Gin Boom and I think we were one of the first sole Gin traders (we were doing it when people used to give us real funny looks at events!). The early setup meant that we had a bit of a jump start on competitors which has ultimately positioned us well.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We've taken a few very good corporate bookings through Add to Event! One which sticks in my mind is for The Guardian where we re-branded our sign (we can do that!) and named the van The Guardian Gin Bar. We then created a specific themed menu for a client of theirs! It was down in Kent at a beautiful setting and the crowd were in really good form! We'd like to think it was our Gins that kept them going all night! We would recommend Add to Event to anyone that is running a business that is displaying a specific skill and passion...if you are being generic or following trends then you get found out in the end and that's not great!
