What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The key details we need are the date of the event, the time of day and the venue. Other considerations include whether the event is to be held indoors or outside and if outside, that weather protection and electricity will be available. Any other issues can be addressed once a dialogue with the client is underway because each event has its own features and flexibility is our watchword.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

There are very many bands of different sizes, styles and quality competing with one another at different price points so it's well worth spending a little time trying to narrow down your requirements to be as specific as possible and attract more targeted quotes. It is worth bearing in mind that suppliers pay a modest fee to submit a quote and maybe deterred from doing so if the invitation to tender appears speculative or framed in general terms. Where the customer's budget is undecided or not declared some suppliers (including us) may decide on principle not to respond.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We are a partnership of nine musicians for whom Soultanas is a subsidiary activity which we enjoy. Our line-up is stable and we are very experienced at doing what we do with a minimum of fuss. We formed the band a little over ten years ago so we know how to work with clients to ensure that every detail is covered and alongside other service providers to ensure a successful, trouble-free event.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

From a supplier's perspective Add to Event is an excellent platform. It operates a simple business model that is a joy to use. Clients are likely to enjoy keener pricing from suppliers here than on other platforms which charge hefty commissions and interpose themselves in the payment process.
