What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting. This should include what the system is being used for (e.g. live bands, DJ, speech only), the estimated audience size, potential venue, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. For live music, we also need to know if a sound engineer is required or if the band will use their own. A technical rider from the band can be extremely helpful if available. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable equipment list and design.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always ask if PA System providers have done many similar events and for an indication of the quality of equipment used. Sound systems vary a lot in terms of quality and performance, especially at the smaller end of the event scene. Equally the quality of a sound engineer will make a huge difference to performance, often more than the quality of the equipment. It's always useful to discuss timing and ease of access for setup/takedown of sound systems - planning in advance will save any nasty surprises on the event day.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
dB Live Sound was born out of love for live music! The founders have spent many years in the live music industry providing sound systems and other stage services to bands, musicians and events companies. Our approach has always been to get the best sound for audience and performers that we are capable of and always go the extra mile - we do this because we enjoy good, live sound.

I would recommend Add to Event to others as it has been a good source for leads, plus developing the profile of the business and gathering feedback.
