What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
As part of our collections, we offer a meet and greet either in person or via Zoom. This is designed so that we get to know each other before your big day. This takes away the initial awkwardness of having a complete stranger shoving a camera in your face. Part of our booking process includes a questionnaire. This has all the information we need to ensure that on your day we have the timings set so that you miss none of your special day and so that you have nothing to think or worry about from the photo or video section of such a beautiful, special day. We want you to treasure every moment of your day so we make it as least intrusive as we can.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When looking for a photographer you obviously need to like their style based on their portfolio of images. From here you need to get along with them (which is why we offer the meet and greet) And then finally there is the cost. There are a lot of sites that give people ideas on what to spend on a photographer. Personally, we always suggest keeping at least 10% of your budget for the photographer.
Your wedding day is going to be one of the most incredible and special days of your life. The photos/video taken on that day will only ever increase in its value and one day those images can be left to family etc. For us it is one of the most important services that should never be chosen based on cost.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I initially started the business in Australia and family issues meant I closed the business down and moved to the UK. From here I worked in a full-time job, however, I have always had such a passion for photography that just wasn't going to hold me over. I started to begin a business here when I met my now wife, who also has a passion for photography. And once we made the decision to join forces it was time to rebrand.
The new name came from a mixture of things. We talked about children and we both loved the name Isla for a girl. My wife then suggested her grandma's name for a middle name being violet. ( I suggested shortening to Vee) so her name would be Isla Vee.
We travel to our favourite place every year in Ibiza and we always go to our favourite spot (where I proposed and where we got unofficially married) Which overlooks the island of Es Vedra (Island of V) and in Spanish Isla Vee roughly translates to see the island. So we had an almost full circle moment and realised Isla-Vee Photography was the perfect name. Our logo above the name is also the outline of Es Vedra.
Isla-Vee Photography was born.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have seen loads of bookings on Add to Event and it has gotten me excited to join up. I am now waiting to secure our first event and hopefully, we can do so soon.
