What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide an accurate quote to a client, I would need to know the event date, a brief description of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, type of venue, and if there are any particular requests (e.g. focussing on specific guests, unmissable surprise moments, lots of detailed shot of the venue). This allows me to picture the day in advance, prepare for it in the best possible way, and ensure that clients know that they will receive the most amazing event photo story they could wish for.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My main advice would certainly be to check out their full portfolio. Professional photographers will always display their very best work, so if the portfolio resonates with the visual flair you're after, and showcases a broad array of events, you can already feel in safe hands. Once this box is checked, and the first couple of messages have been exchanged, it's good praxis to have a quick introductory call to ensure that the person is friendly, approachable, and a good listener. You want to feel 100% comfortable about them being tasked with the shoot, and be around your guests on the day.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have a background in film and started my career as a behind-the-scenes photographer on film and music video sets. This led to capture festivals and award ceremonies, which later opened the gate to the broader event industry. Over the last 8 years, I have photographed stars, iconic venues, crazy film shoots, and wonderful ceremonies, but never looked away from birthday parties and heartfelt private events - which I still love to capture no less than magniloquent corporate conferences - because of their tangible human component, key motivator of each visual storyteller. Seeing clients keeping coming back because they want my photography to capture their events, again and again, inspires me to do even better and surprise them every time.
