What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, we require the event date, a brief description of the type of event, the number of expected guests and the length of service. Our guests have the option of choosing between pizzas being served in compostable takeaway boxes or having a sharing table, where pizzas are served unboxed on wooden boards. It is important for us to know the access to the event and where the wagon is going to be situated (ideally on level ground) along with the power and water requirements.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly, identify what style and quality of pizza you are after, as there will be many different standards available in your area. It is important to know your expected duration of service, as our pizzas cook in 90 seconds, which is fast, but they come out in pairs over the serving time rather than 200 pizzas in one sitting. It is important to know the set up times required by the caterers, because in our case, we need time for the wood fired oven to get to temperature.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
After setting up multiple pizza kitchens at campsites across the south of England, we decided to make the concept mobile. We converted a horse box into what has now become Willy’s Wagons, which is a stylish and unique feature to have at any event. As a husband and wife duo, we value high quality fresh Italian ingredients, so we knew that we wanted to make our own dough and sauce, creating a pizza that is authentic to the taste of Naples. We wanted to make a catering business that had minimal waste, used no plastics and only used eco-friendly products and packaging as sustainability is very important to us.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event is a fantastic platform for connecting with potential clients and gives suppliers a broad range of options to choose from. We have had excellent feedback from all the bookings made on Add to Event. As a small, start-up business it has helped us in securing events both near and far including festivals, weddings and birthdays. We did a charity event in Southampton that was such good fun, we served over 100 pizzas and danced all night long. Everybody loved our pizzas and thought Willy’s Wagons was a brilliant addition to their event. It was great to raise money for a good cause and we will be returning next year.
