What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief description of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and potential venue, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable menu list and affordable pricing structure.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask the provider about what they can offer you, after all we aim to make our customers happy and if that means going that extra mile to fulfill their wishes, then so be it. Don't always accept the first quote you receive or the cheapest, ask for references if you must.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have been involved in the catering industry for over 20 years, and have worked in many establishments from 5 star hotels to the cosy pub on the high street. My aim is to always put the customer first and after hearing many horror stories from people about being grossly over charged and receiving terrible service, I decided to start Midlothian In-House Catering which prides itself on providing quality catering at affordable prices.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

One of our very first bookings through Add to Event was for a local government agency for a tenant's meeting and open day. The service requested was of buffet style with the addition of provision of tea/coffee and soft drinks. As I was personally on hand to organise the tea and coffee, it gave me a chance to engage in feedback from the people at the meeting and to gain valuable advice on how to approach similar events in the future.
