Terra Firma Sound and Lighting are providers of sound and lighting equipment in and around the Slough area. They can provide single items of equipment or whole concert/show set-ups and everything in between. All equipment is fully tested before it leaves the store and comes in both indoor and weatherproof outdoor varieties.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a customer with a comprehensive quote we need to know the date of the event, number of people attending, if the event is inside or outside, what the sound equipment is to be used for (eg speech only or music), the size of the venue or the area to be covered if outside.

The more information we have, the more it helps us to provide a quote which fully meets the customer’s needs.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When you hire Sound, Lighting or Staging equipment, not all equipment offered is of the same quality. Please make sure that as you compare quotes, you compare like with like.

Also, ask what you will be charged if you need additional equipment – for example extra microphones.
Check that all crew and equipment you need to make sure your event runs smoothly has been included in any quote you are given.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Terra Firma Sound and Lighting was started over twenty years ago after I was made redundant. I took the opportunity to take a hobby and change it into a business. Terra Firma Sound has always been centered on customer service and we endeavor to always make sure that we offer clients the right equipment for the job.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have had a good number of projects through Add to Event and a number have resulted in repeat bookings. One project we worked on was for a school music day. We set up a covered stage outside along with a full sound system. All of the children in the school took part in small groups or larger class groups. It was good to see the children, their teachers and their parents enjoying themselves and having a really fun day. We are pleased to recommend Add to Event to all our friends in the AV industry, and happy to tell them the about quality of the leads we receive.
