What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order for us to provide our customers with an accurate quote, we need to understand what your event is.
How many people do you expect to have in the audience, is it indoor or outdoor, will there be live bands playing and if so how many are in the biggest band? Will the performers be on a stage or just in the room? Do you require any lighting for the room or performers? What time will the event start and finish and does it need to be setup and taken down on the same day? The more of this information we have, the more precise our quote can be. If it is an outdoor event, power supply can often be difficult. It would be useful to know if there is power available to the contractor along with how much and how it is provided.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The law relating to public and private events is constantly changing so in order to ensure that you have met all the requirements, we would highly recommend that you always hire a company who can demonstrate they are fully aware of health and safety legislation and have in place the necessary training and insurance to reduce the risks of accidents and to cover the expenses of any claims if they should happen.
One of the best ways to ensure this is to use companies whose employees hold relevant training like a stage safety passport card and that the company is affiliated to one of the recognized event associations.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Live events are in our blood - the staff at EES Showhire have all worked within live events for many years. We do this as a profession, but our staff are passionate enough about their work to undertake live performance as a hobby. This passion is still very much as with them today as it always has been and this is why we don't see what we do as a job but just another reason to put 100% into what we are doing and to see how our clients and their crowds react to the work that we do.
