What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide an accurate quote, we will require:
Date of the event
Location of the event
Number of people
Type of event

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ensure that the supplier has good quality vintage china and props as there will be a lot of photos taken of them, chips and cracks are no no. Old does not mean tatty.
Ensure the supplier is happy to deliver, set up and collect within their quote (we cover 50 miles for free, and do the dishes). Who wants the stress of all that!
That the supplier understands the style you are wanting is it a vintage music theme or an Alice in Wonderland spectacular. Are they happy to source special pieces for you e.g. did your grandmother have a beautiful set you'd love to see? After all, this is your event, not theirs.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

TheTeenyTinyChinaCompany was born after my own teeny tiny people were born. I had always loved anything vintage (perhaps this is why I married Mr P).

After the death of my grandmother, I inherited 70 boxes of china and they needed to be used and loved, I had been in stationery for a long time and would serve my couples an afternoon tea at their consultation. I had been asked many times if they were for hire and the answer was always a no.

This was to change when my vintage loving best friends boyfriend wanted to propose, so on a very sunny day armed with a vintage picnic basket filled with my great grand mother's wedding day tea set and linens (also a ring to die for) he asked and I'm pleased to say she said yes. I was even happier when they asked me to provide their vintage china and styling.
