What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To help give an ideal quote we would like to know. The ages of those participating in the facepaint. The location of the event. Accessible for parking for unloading and loading. Out kit is heavy. If you can provide table and chairs. Provide refreshments.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always check their insurance and photos of THEIR work. No face painter should ever paint a child under 3. This will go against all PLI. Check to see if they have taken additional exams with FACE association.
Pick quality over quantity. It takes time to learn and our kits are not cheap and last but not least. Find out the manufacturer of their paints and if they are vegan friendly. Or biodegradable glitter. Their impact on our environment.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started cosplaying a few years ago and loved seeing the faces of the kids when they would see you. I looked into additional jobs I could do to see more children smile. Facepainting was one and even though I was worried I couldn't draw, I took relevant courses to get more bookings. Seeing those children smile at themselves in your mirror is enough to light up the room.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
My 1st booking was my all-time favourite. A wedding which got cancelled 2 times due to Covid. And finally, 3rd time lucky we were welcomed to a beautiful wedding. Which has led to 2 more further bookings from the bride's friends.
