What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
First of all, the event date or whether you're flexible on the date - availability is key! Then we just need to find out the type of event you're hosting, how many guests will be attending and the location of the event. From this, we'll put together a quote to create an incredible space for you.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
GOLDEN RULE: AVOID LAST MINUTE SURPRISES. 1) Chat with your tipi supplier. Communication is everything and you'll be working together to create your event so you need to understand each other, the service being provided and your expectations. 2) Ask for a site visit - this is an opportunity to know your supplier and you'll learn more about the tipi build process. 3) Discuss what you need to provide your supplier. Your tipi supplier will be the first on site and the last to leave, so they'll need early access to the land and access to a loo - discussing this early on will enable you to arrange it with your venue's groundskeeper or landowner.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
We have created, designed, marketed and operated accommodation sites for the biggest events on the planet since 2009 – Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Edinburgh Festivals, Tough Mudders, Tour de France, World Cups... you name it.
We fell in love with tipis when we first saw them in 2012, and had been itching to incorporate them into our own events until this became a reality at the 2017 Champions League Finals in Cardiff, Le Mans 24 Heure race, Edinburgh Fringe and
other events. Eager to share our magnificent tipis, we launched Cotswold Tipis early in 2018 and we couldn't be happier.
Our small team works year round to be with you through each step of your tipi journey; Geoff heads up the build team while Rhian and Sarah are there to deliver a fantastic customer service experience, as well as often being there for the build when your day arrives! Our focus is on you and the delivery of your event so we only work with one couple on any weekend and our small team ensures you'll be speaking to the same people throughout your booking.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We worked on a 40th Birthday Party at a luxurious lakeside private accommodation village - that was pretty spectacular! This job had its challenges - we had to pass all of our equipment through a hedge (!) but the tipi looked beautiful, our clients had a great time and we received fantastic feedback from them and their friends.
