Vegetarian Catering in Midlands

The Hogless Roast offer an amazing new concept - the world's first 100% vegan hog roast! They travel all over the country to weddings, birthdays and festivals. Here they share their story and what inspired them to start the businesses, plus some tips on what you need to consider when booking vegetarian and vegan catering.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The more information, the better! All the basics - location, numbers, venue, timings - plus as much as you can provide around the vibe of your event and what you're looking for in terms of catering.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

There's a great range of vegetarian and vegan caterers out there, and it's growing all the time. I'd recommend being really clear with what you're looking for and on what your supplier can provide. Some vegan caterers offer traditional vegan foods, whereas some suppliers, like ourselves, will offer foods that will appeal to meat eaters as well as veggies and vegans. If you've got a mix of guests attending, or it's a public event, you'll want to bear that in mind.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We started the business because we both believe that plant-based foods are the future, but we missed the taste of meat - and we don't think we're alone in that! We wanted to make foods that gave everyone the chance to eat less meat without compromising on taste. Our Hogless Roast is every bit as tasty and indulgent (if not more so!) than the meat version, plus it's healthier and better for the environment and the animals - it's win-win! We also just love getting out there to events all over the country and meeting amazing people running amazing events.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We recently had an Add to Event booking at a craft brewery, where we were the only caterers for a big crowd of beer lovers. Have to admit we did think it might be a tough job to persuade them all to give the Hogless Roast a go - but as soon as a few of them had tried our food, they couldn't get enough of it. A few hours later we had totally sold out and, hopefully, had changed a few people's minds about what's possible with plant-based food. The Add to Event platform is brilliant and we have recommended it to a few fellow street food traders.
