Provide as much information from the off to ensure the best possible start.
Be honest with yourself about how much work you in fact want to do in the run-up to the event. Time always inevitably runs out.
Write a mental list of jobs you want to be done as you think of them to keep on top of the admin before the day comes.

Service is the key to every area of an event. If the service is good the rest follows. If the service is bad it's all anyone remembers. So it's important to get it right. Not to be mean with the hands-on-deck side of things as it takes many hands to make things run smoothly.
