What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For me to provide an accurate quote I need to know the date of the event as Summer or Winter can determine the rate. Plus a weekday vs a weekend can affect the price. How many venues do I need to attend ie a home a church and a reception venue or just registry office then onto the reception or one venue where it will all take place. Will you require a full day 6+ hours from pre-preparation of Bride to First Dance or just the ceremony and reception or just the Ceremony. It would also be good to know how many guests are in attendance both in the day time and then the evening. If you know the venue and have booked, it is valuable to know as it is very hard to quote when we are not aware of all the info.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The first tip would be to look at their photographs on Facebook or Instagram, definitely check out their website to get a good idea of style and quality.
Do they require a deposit to secure the booking and when will the final payment need to be made.
Have they completed a wedding at your venue before, whilst this is not essential often knowing the venue in advance does have its advantages.
Ensure that they are Insured especially as there have been occasions when photographers have taken 50% and then disappeared.
How many photos will you get and in what format many photographers charge a minimum for the day but the prints can be very expensive. Look for an all-inclusive package if you are on a budget.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started photography when I was 10 years old with my first 35mm Instamatic and I loved the fact that I could capture moments in time forever. I went on to study Photography and this became a strong passion for me with my camera always to hand. Finally, the DSLR came in and the world was my oyster and I had so much power at my fingertips. I did my first wedding for a friend over 20 years ago and I loved the beauty and spectacle of the whole day. Shooting weddings became my passion and full-time career and I have never looked back.
I believe that women make better wedding photographers because we have access to areas that can be difficult for men to access, dressing rooms and put on wedding dresses. Plus, we have a romantic eye for the detail. Plus what woman doesn't love a wedding!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
The most recent wedding I carried out from Add to Event was a twilight wedding at Frierns Manor at the start of June. A beautiful venue and a stunning day with Anna and Luke and their 3 beautiful girls.
The happy couple were delighted with the meetings that we had prior to the big day and I know they were confident that we all knew what was expected on the day including their wedding coordinator.
The feedback from the couple was excellent and I look forward to celebrating the 1st Anniversary with them.
