What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
When I am providing quotes to all newly engaged couples, I require the date of your wedding so I can check for availability. I also would need the name of the venue/church and the time of your marriage. It would also be helpful to know the amount of guests that may attend on the day and if you want all day coverage for your wedding photography (e.g. if it was 8 hours or more) or if you wish for me to cover the reception as well.
It will also be good to know if you're thinking about having a wedding album included in your wedding package, and how much your budget is so that I can have an idea of what wedding package will suit you both.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My advice to couples looking for a wedding photographer would be to have a think of the style of pictures you would like, whether they are traditional/natural or documentary photos, so you make the right choice of right pictures on your day!
Also if your venue has little grounds to work with for photos, don’t be discouraged. It could be a good idea to have a little look in the area for parks which could be used for potential pictures, so you can get the best out of your day when you hire your photographer!
Also, it's good to look at certain photos for any inspiration to have on your day so your photographer can recreate them for you. It's always nice to meet your photographer and get a good feeling that you're going to gain a good relationship with them which goes a long way. This allows you to be confident and relaxed around them, especially as you are inviting them to your wedding with all your family and friends.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started my photography when I had my first 2 children and I learned how to use my equipment by taking pictures of them. Through my lens I watched them grow and took pictures of each stage of their early years with much enjoyment.
I owned my own photography studio for over two years in Manchester, and worked on bridal and portrait/family indoor photography. I then decided after a couple of years to venture out and try wedding photography, needless to say, I absolutely loved being outdoors taking pictures of brides and grooms on their wedding day. Taking natural pictures of couples becoming Mr and Mrs, and sharing their day with all there family and friends I gained experience through the time and got an eye for the beauty of wedding photography.
