What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

I love reading the organisers comments when an enquiry comes through. The more information the better, and it really gives me a sense of what the event will be like, and whether I would be the right fit for you.
It's always great to know the venue, and of course things like location etc, but it's important to know what YOU want. After all, it is your event, not "my shoot".
I can get a quote to you with the minimum of information, but to get a proper proposal together which fits you and your needs, then tell me everything you can, and what you'd expect. I promise I'll read it and take it all on board.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Photography is one of those areas that people know about, but don't really "know" about. So, do not be afraid to ask as many questions as you like, no matter how silly you think they may be.
If you are booking a photographer for your wedding for example - you need to look at the person as well as the price, as don't forget they will be with you the majority of the day.
I always like to suggest the "3 P's" when looking: Personality, Portfolio, Price
If you like all the 3P's - then get them booked :)
Photography is very subjective. What works for you, will not work for somebody else. thankfully, we photographers are usually very adaptable and will work with you to ensure you get what you want out of your day :)

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have always loved photography and was something I always wanted to do. However, life often gets in the way, and 2 kids, a wife and a mortgage sometimes challenges you from making the giant leap from a part-time amateur to a full time professional. I was lucky, and with the full support of my family, I was able to make that big jump, and I've never been busier or happier.
I decided from the word go that I would always be "myself", so yes, my sense of humour and fun yet professional approach does come with me to every wedding and event :)
I have been so fortunate to be involved with amazing and wonderful weddings and events all over the UK (and beyond) and I still get excited about each and every new booking that comes through.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

It's so difficult to pick up on just one booking, as I've genuinely loved every one of them regardless of size or exposure.
The most unusual and high profile that I have had through this platform was the wedding of Mr & Mrs White-Christmas. Their initial enquiry was brilliant, loads of information, and gave me a great insight as to their characters and the day they had planned.
The couple were so lovely, and we seemed to gel immediately. This is so important.
After speaking with them, I found out that they were planning to double-barrel their surnames, and when your surnames are Christmas and White - there is only one way around you are going to do this.
The wedding was amazing. Absolutely perfect. It was only on the drive home the next morning that I realised that the "White-Christmas" story was becoming more popular than anybody had imagined.
I had to stop in a service station to field calls from journalists from literally all over the globe!
The story went viral, and at one stage was at number 5 on the BBC's most-read list ?!???! (just behind President Trump actually) The couple was overwhelmed and loved every minute of their 5 minutes of fame, and as a photographer, I was on cloud nine having my pictures in every national newspaper and media outlets around Europe !!
Despite all this - the wedding was superb, and nothing was taken away from their special day.
