About Below the Border
An outstanding Rock Band comprising ex-professional recording artists from the 70s -
- covering the greatest rock hits of the 20th century, from the days of Peace & Love.
Some of us appear on albums released on original vinyl - yes, we really are that old!
We left the music business professionally decades ago. We no longer play for the money, hence our incongruously modest fee; but we’ve always gigged, playing every type of venue over the years. From town halls to village halls, from tiny music pubs to iconic rock venues, from rock clubs on the continent from to big stage festivals during English summers. We’ve done the miles to be exceptional players.
To be honest we put this band together for us! For the joy getting back on the road and performing the soundtrack of our youth - the hits EVRYONE knows and loves
For us this band is for the music, for the roar of the crowd, for the reward of seeing folk leap to their feet and dancing their socks off when they hear those iconic guitar intro’s: Alright Now, Born to Be Wild, Honky Tonk Women, Radar Love, Mustang Sally, Rebel Rebel, Get Back, Can’t Get Enough, etc. etc.
Artists we cover include:
Cream, Free, David Bowie, T-Rex, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, The Sweet, Thin Lizzy, Badfinger, Golden Earring, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Steppenwolf, Steve Miller, ZZ Top, Deep Purple, Wilson Picket, Fleetwood Mac, Status Quo, The Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, Credence Clearwater Revival, Canned Heat, The Who, Dire Straits, The Spencer Davis Group, The Doors, Ike & Tina Turner . . . and many more we cherish.
We like to choose songs that get people dancing. See the Set List page in our website for details
And by the way:
If you are running an NHS staff party it would be our honour to appear for FREE
Typical Clients
One of our favourite bookings was this summer immediately after coming out of lockdown. A combined father and daughter 21st and 65th birthday party at a farm in Kent. They had hired a bar in a van, an enormous inflatable dome a stage, a dance floor with lights in it and a fabulous Abba Tribute support act. It was a 70s fancy dress party and we kept people dancing until well after midnight.
The next weekend we were at a party in a village in the depths of Wiltshire. People sat on hay bales amongst vintage tractors and fairy lights on the hosts back lawn. There was a pig roast and we played inside under a canvas awning. People danced on the grass - a lovely booking.
If you look at our gig list on our w/site you’ll See all the bookings that were cancelled during The suddenly and terribly mismanaged pandemic with so many lost the love ones. A theatre in London, the converted sun-down spot at the Guildford rock and blues festival in the football stadium, an appearance at Sandown Park racetrack for the annual National caravaning event, an exclusive party in the Blue Bird room at the historic Brooklyn’s motor racing track and Museum - and of course all our favourite music venues where we have a large following.
