El Jefe was started because this Texan, could not find good Tex-Mex or Mexican food anywhere nearby. We relentlessly experiment with our recipes so they get better and better and use, whenever possible, authentic Mexican ingredients.
We have a large and growing menu with original recipes and a very friendly/fun staff. We aim to please at events and have thus far grown organically by word of mouth. Our food van is unique too and looks good at any event or party.
We have a stable location on the High Street in Harpenden, Herts

Fantastic and friendly service!
John provided the perfect service for our Garden Fiesta Party. His food truck parked on our driveway was the talk of the street and all our guests absolutely raved about the food he served. The tacos were delicious and there was something to suit everyone. His communication with me before the event was very friendly and efficient and on the day everyone just thought he was the nicest guy. Incredibly good value for money too. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.
Awesome beyond words
I hired El Jefe Tex-Mex to provide the catering for my Mexican themed birthday party over the bank holiday. John and his team were great! Honestly, everything from the menu planning, coordinating the logistics on-site, to he extra touches like the Mexican drinks, just made the whole thing so special and I cannot thank them enough. Then there was the food, so tasty, fresh, made to order and I’m still getting compliments about it. If I have the energy to do another Mexican theme again, I will be back!!
Awesome Food Truck
John was great, all my guests really enjoyed the food especially given the options to choose any of the tacos. Super filling and really worth it.
