About Hairpin Bend Band

The Hairpin Bend are a traditional Irish folk band based in South Wales, playing traditional Irish music and folk songs for gigs and céilidhs in South Wales.

Since 2008 we've played all over South Wales and the South West from Pembrokeshire to Bristol at weddings, St Patrick's Day events, wakes, céilidhs, pub gigs, street festivals, dances and private parties.

Between us we play fiddles, mandolin, guitar, tin whistle, uilleann pipes, low D whistle and bodhrán to create the beautiful, evocative and instantly recognisable sound of Irish traditional music. Our two singers have a vast repertoire of old Irish standards including Black Velvet Band, I'll Tell Me Ma, Come by the Hills, Irish Rover, Whiskey in the Jar, Black is the Colour, along with songs with an Irish flavour such as Steve Earle's Galway Girl. We take requests in advance so if we don't know a particular song we will work out a version of it for your special occasion! Our band name is a traditional Irish tune but is also a reference to the roads we end up driving down as we travel to our gigs!

Our traditional tune repertoire is extensive and we are known for our beautiful and intricate instrumental arrangements - think toe-tapping jigs & reels to get your guests on their feet!
