Pekoe Mellow is a Sri Lankan inspired teahouse, sharing the finest British & Asian tea time traditions. A place to relax & enjoy directly imported highest grade of teas, accompanied by quality teatime refreshments. Teatime needn’t be in the afternoon & it needn’t be fancy - at Pekoe Mellow teatime is a moment to pause & enjoy anytime.
Pekoe Mellow Teahouse was created by husband & wife team; Gobi & Helen. Our aim is to share quality fresh teas & British ‘teatime’ treats inspired by the flavours of Sri Lanka. The tea & food menus reflect the fusion of cultures within our family & combine the exotic flavours Gobi grew up with in Sri Lanka, with the more traditional British influences of Helen’s childhood surrounded by skilled home cooks.

The pekoe is the most prized part of the plant, from which our teahouse takes its name. Grades of tea range from Imperial or superfine to orange pekoe, pekoe, broken orange pekoe (BOP), broken orange pekoe fanning (BOPF) & finally dust which is found in an average tea bag. However, when selecting teas it is as much a question of personal taste as looking for a desirable grade, with the BOP and BOPF tending to be more to the taste of British tea drinkers as it is stronger and brews darker.

At Pekoe Mellow we specialise in rare, single source, Sri Lankan tea & speciality blends created on site. Our unique collection of fine teas are sourced directly from partnership plantations in Sri Lanka; this ensures a freshness that cannot be matched. On visiting the gardens in the Kelani Valley, Nuwara Eliya we were able to select the best teas to serve. All teas are selected to keep sync with the rhythm of the seasons.
We can blend bespoke teas for you as well as run tea blending / tea tasting masterclasses.

We stock small selection of fine wines from small vineyards in France, our wine partner delivers a wine tasting evening every few months which we couple with a 3 course Sri Lankan inspired meal.
