About Romor Designs

My textiles practice centres around Japanese textiles crafts with hundreds of years of tradition. I work with Indigo and natural dyes as well as more commercial, easy to use dyes such as Dylon, which is perfect for kids tie dye classes.

I teach many variations of Shibori, which is a form of resist work involving binding, stitching, boards and clamps, rope cores and poles, The patterns achieved are very varied, some traditional and some contemporary takes on Japanese designs. I also teach the use of Katagami paper stencils with a traditional rice paste and indigo, how to make a natural dyed sampler using various plant dyes, Sashiko pattern embroidery, Boro style mending and a simple tie dye using beads and rubber bands.
