What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

It is important to know the style of event they are having, their budget, the location, the date and time of the event, if there will be any other food providers present and how many people are attending.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

To make sure that you're getting the best suppliers to work with you, make sure they have enough experience to know how to deal with most problems if they were to arise. It is important to also check whether they have the necessary legal paperwork to trade and their trading history to check references. I'd also strongly suggest getting insurance cover (usually no more than £100) to cover cancellations, weather delays etc.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started being interested in catering when I worked out that people were at their happiest with a plate full of lovely food. I went through the usual route of catering, getting suitably qualified, gaining foreign experience in both America and Hong Kong, as well as working for 10 years building franchise's businesses. A redundancy package and a huge BBQ that I'd just bought became a match made in heaven and 10 years later we've expanded from a home business to operating 4 BBQ's, a converted American school bus and enough paella pans to feed 1,000 people.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I've just started using this website, and can't get over the diversity of its clients. From a small 10 person dinner party, to a 20,000 person public event, there's something for everyone to work with.
