JC BBQ Catering provides authentic charcoal BBQ food, which is sourced from a local butcher and served with a variety of homemade sides which offer a selection of hot and cold options. What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us as a BBQ business to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally I would need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of service the customer would require and type of event that's been hosted. We would require number of guests and breakdown of the number of dietary requirements. and whether the event is indoor or outdoor would help. We can then use this to devise a clear and precise quote that can be tweaked and finalised by the customer.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly ask the provider about the product they are offering, I would also ask for options and if the menu is set or can be changed to suit requirements. Ask the provider about specifics on the menu and why they are serving what's on the menu. Ask about the setup and what equipment will be used to deliver the menu or service you have asked to be quoted.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
JC BBQ is a mobile BBQ stall and catering business that was born out of a hobby and love for BBQ that I then began to offer out services to family and friends and the idea to professionalise and launch as a business was born. My passion for food has always been there and hosting events has always been to provide a service and food I would want myself. JC BBQ was then launched with the idea of cooking authentic charcoal BBQ for events and customers functions along with bespoke homemade sides to compliment the charcoal cooked food. I wanted to create a mobile BBQ business that has the customer as the core focus.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Wow since joining Add to Event I have quoted for a number of jobs and been successful, this has varied from small private functions to corporate summer business events. The stand-out event so far for me has been a last minute stand in for a private event for 40 people, I received the request a day before the event due to the previous catering cancelling, the customer was panicked and worried the event would have no food or catering at all with 40 guests. I was in contact until 11pm the night before finalising the food menu and choices. I then utilised my butcher contact to create the finest meat choice options which I collected the morning of the event. The client and her guests were very happy and the feedback on the night was outstanding along with a message the next day saying over breakfast we were all talking about the chicken you cooked last night. I have since recommended Add to Event to a friend who has a marquee hire business. Add to Event is helping me grow my small business in the first year of operating and I can't recommend it enough.
