What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
It is essential for a provider to know as much detail as possible from a potential client, and this should include: the reason for the event, age group of guests, location of event and facilities that the location may offer. It would be helpful to know potential allergies/food intolerances, whether the event is indoor/outdoor and what time of year it is being held.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
In my opinion, it is important for a potential client to not be afraid to ask any questions. We generally find that clients are asking for us to provide our services for a celebration, a party or some kind of special day. With that in mind, the potential client should feel at ease when making requests or giving special instructions. I personally feel that to gain the best experience for the client, communication is as important as the product itself.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started my business after noticing that a large section of the local community enjoy entertaining at home. Following many years in the restaurant trade, I noticed that with a certain amount of planning and preparation, restaurant standard food can be obtained in most homes - any day of the week. I found that with a little menu planning, clients started to choose dishes often found in restaurants and bistros. With the growing popularity of cookery on tv, home entertaining was beginning to rapidly grow and grow. I decided to advertise on a larger scale, and have found that my clients are well informed and enjoy being
able to dedicate their time to their guests and family whilst relaxing in familiar surroundings.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
A recent completed request was from a client who just wanted a simple buffet for a wake. With such a sombre day, in the planning we ensured that the clients every need was addressed and with the person being celebrated we did a little research and lay on a buffet from the days that the clients guests would remember. The whole afternoon went smoothly, with many of the guests expressing their thanks. They complemented us on the wonderful memories that the food had reminded them of and expressed how nice it was to eat from vintage crockery and drink from vintage tea cups. A great level of feedback from such a sombre afternoon.
