The Blonde Bakery makes delicious bespoke cupcakes and other celebration cakes for all types of event, prepared and decorated to exacting standards using the best ingredients and are able to deliver across the Midlands. They share some advice on what you should know about booking a supplier for your own cake.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To enable me to provide an accurate quote for a customer, I would like to have details of the event, the date, the size of cake required, or an estimate of the number of guests, and whether a specific design and flavour or combination of flavours have been decided. I am happy to discuss ideas and options to ensure the finished cake is exactly what the customer wants.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Celebrations are special events, and the cake is often the centrepiece of the party. Making sure the supplier of the cake is experienced and can supply the best possible cake, on time, is very important. Ask for photographs of their previous work, do they have any recommendations from previous customers, can they offer tastings of the product, particularly for a wedding cake, are they willing to meet to discuss ideas face to face.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The Blonde Bakery idea started many years ago when I decided to make my own wedding cake. I love baking, and after completing a City and Guilds Sugar Craft course, I regularly made cakes for family and friends and word spread. I always make my cakes fresh, to order, and love the reveal, seeing customers' faces when their dream has become a sugar reality.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have had a few bookings through Add to Event and my product has been very well received. I hope to be even more successful with my quotes and gain a wider and more regular market for my cakes in 2019.
