63 Islands provide freshly made Caribbean food from their mobile street food van at parties, food festivals, concerts and other events throughout Staffordshire and beyond. Their menu has multiple options such as meat, fish or vegetable based dishes and the entire menu can be made into a vegan menu if required for the event. Because the food is made live, it is a great opportunity to interact with guests and the owners are more than happy to discuss the Islands and their food while the live cooking takes place.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
Quotes are calculated based on the number of guests, the duration the client requests our services for and the location of the event.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You don't necessarily need to know much about Caribbean food, but you do need to be open to new foods and tastes. Let them know what your favourite foods are and eating habits - they should build a menu around you. If not, you may want to look for someone who will.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started the business in April 2014 because I love my Caribbean heritage and islands such as Jamaica are now well known, but the British public have no idea about Caribbean food and think its just Jerk Chicken. So the aim was to showcase food from around the Caribbean and highlight the differences of cuisines from island to island.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I catered a 40th birthday party in Kenilworth. It was a lovely event, hosts were very warm and most importantly they loved my food. We cook fresh on the van and so it was nice for the customers to smell the food, see what we were doing and interact with us about the business and their experience of the Caribbean and the food they have tried. Plus, everyone was drinking and in high spirits so it made the event a lot more convivial.
