What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a detailed tailored quote, we will require the event date, proposed location, the type of event (birthday, wedding, corporate etc), the estimated number of guests, ideally an idea of the menu, indoor/outdoor (and whether there are kitchen facilities available). From this, our Events Team will then compile a bespoke quote including a breakdown of all prices (per equipment hire/products/services).

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always ask the provider to provide photo examples of the same/similar events they have done before to ascertain quality, style etc. It is important to identify the quality of the event you are looking for, as this usually determines the price. Choose suppliers that are reasonable yet don't compromise on quality. If you are hiring equipment such as mobile bars, make sure you get visibility of the type of bar you are being quoted for.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Cater Express is a family-owned business and we wanted to be in the business that makes people happy. Participating in celebrations is such a rewarding business of which we are blessed to be a part. We are passionate about creating magical moments and everlasting memories. Our team has decades of experience in events and we aimed to be a one-stop-shop for all your event needs and hence we can provide all things event-related in-house (catering, bars, staff, décor, entertainment - literally anything you require for your event). This saves the customer time, effort and money going to different suppliers and managing them.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Well, where do we start....we have been so lucky to be inundated with bookings since we joined Add to Event a couple of years ago. If we had to pick one event that stood out it has to be when we hosted the staff of an aeroplane manufacturing company. This was for 1000 guests and the event had to be in a hangar!!!! It was a blank piece of paper that we had to build from scratch a glamourous, fine dining, black-tie event with exclusive entertainment. Not only was the event super lavish, but we also had a total staff count of 120 looking after different aspects of the event on the day. There were large AV/décor structures set-up, casinos brought in and champagne flowing throughout, it was by far our biggest, most luxury event ever. The client was so happy and have now recruited us as their main supplier for all their smaller in-house events, all thanks to Add to Event. We definitely owe a lot to Add to Event for being an integral part of building our business from strength to strength.
