What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and potential venue location. We also need to know estimated start and finish times and if the event is being paid for up front. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable equipment list and quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, ask the cocktail bar provider about the product they are offering, I would want to ensure that the company know what they are talking about first. Ask the provider about their menu and why they are serving what they are serving, after all we are cocktail and coffee bars so that should be our main goal. Also, find out about their equipment as better equipment will mean they can make better tasting drinks more efficiently. Finally, always ask if they have adequate insurance and evidence they can send of this cover.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

BlackLeaf Events was born out of a love for all things hospitality! As a company we have spent over 2 decades in the events industry, running high profile events for a wide array of clients from cocktail bars to bookshops. Our passion has always been providing great service and giving people an experience to remember. I wanted to create a business that had customer focus at its core.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Wow! There have been lots of bookings through this platform that I am personally so happy about. If I had to pick one, it would be a large corporate event we did where we had 12 mobile bars set out for a cocktail masterclass teaching 150 guests the art of mixology! The client and her guests were very happy and are using us again for their next event. I recommend Add to Event to all my catering friends in the events industry, as well as anyone who does something that is relevant to the hospitality sector.
