What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The most important details are the venue (or at least the area) and the date. With these two pieces of information, I can provide my standard service quote, which in 90% of the events will be perfect for.
For events that need a little more honing, timing information is the next crucial elements as well as if the venue is a large room or a lot of guests, so I can liaise with the client to provide a bigger PA/more lighting. With more accurate timings, I can include things such as an early setup or a later finish.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If I was booking, I would look for proof in photos that their equipment is up to the job. I would also want to know if they themselves would be at the event, or if they plan on sub-hiring it.
I do not envy clients who are looking for acts to perform at their wedding, because there as so many, and so many who are simply not professional enough.
Mostly, use your intuition. If the act doesn't seem right, don't book.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I became a professional musician in 2012 when I was offered a contract with a party band in Shanghai. From that, I did cruise work and finally back in the UK in 2013 where I started a wedding band which did DJ service alongside.
In 2019, I started looking into the idea of offering a standalone DJ service in order to get more work.
