DJ Ed Sullivan is an experienced club and mobile DJ having played at some of London's largest clubs and is now based in the Midlands. Here, as well as giving some background to his career, he offers some top tips on finding the best DJ for your event.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For a comprehensive quote, we need to know the following basic details. Firstly the proposed date of the event. If the event is a long way off then please mention that the date is about this time and it isn't known yet. Secondly, the location of the venue. Don't worry if it is not confirmed yet just let us know the approximate town of the venue. Lastly, we need to know what type of event it is. Is it a wedding, 18th, engagement party? Let us know! We look forward to playing at your event!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I always recommend asking what the other DJ specialises in? If he usually plays at 60th birthday parties and Golden wedding anniversary then he probably isn't the best choice for your 18th. Typically most DJs use roughly the same equipment so let the music do the talking!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Back in 2014, Ed Sullivan started the company in West London as there were hardly any decent mobile disco services that offered the full nightclub feel. Rather than the perfect mixing of quality selected tunes, it was more like the classic 70s wedding DJ - prattling about on the mic with his shirt open 20 buttons and flirting with anything that moved. We offered a professional but affordable service that allowed us to compete with the usual DJ base and very quickly we were very well established in West London. Skip forward to 2018 and we have moved up to Derby! We still offer the same nightclub feel and competitive prices which separates us from our competitors.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have had loads of bookings through Add to Event but the most memorable one was a charity event we completed in order to raise money for mental health awareness. We had well over 300 people who attended who all wanted house classics and dance throwbacks which is our speciality! We were meant to finish at 2 am but we kept on playing and the crowd kept dancing until 4 am! It wasn't just the best night I had with Add to Event but also one of the best moments of my DJ Career!!
