What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, it is really helpful to have the event date, venue name and location, the number of guests expected and a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting. Ideally, we would also need to know the expected start and finish times and an indication of the type of music required. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a personalised package that we believe will meet the customer's needs. We then usually provide the customer with a range of additional options to consider that could further enhance their event.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly, it's hugely important to be aware that not all DJs are the same. Prices will vary significantly but before ruling out a more expensive option, remember that costs are often commensurate with expertise and the quality of equipment provided. A professional DJ will have high-quality equipment, significant experience and a huge music library to choose from. As tempting as it may be to book a cheaper DJ they almost certainly won't provide the level of service needed for a successful event, and that could mean no atmosphere and an empty dance floor. Always ask the provider what experience they have and what sound and lighting will be provided. It's also advisable to understand who you're booking and who will perform at your event. Some companies will take bookings and contract the work out to other DJs and this can cause the client a multitude of problems. When you book our services you can rest assured that you're dealing with your DJ directly. We personally perform at all of our events which allows us to provide a consistently high level of service for our clients.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Mobile Beats was born out of a love for music. My first formal gig as a DJ was a Hogmanay party at a Thistle Hotel in Glasgow back in 1996 at the age of 16. I have been providing mobile DJ services ever since, entertaining at all kinds of events nationwide. I have had the privilege of performing at hundreds of weddings, parties and corporate events over the years, playing in some of the country's most prestigious venues and picking up a wealth of skills and experience along the way.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I'm relatively new to the Add to Event platform but I'm already highly impressed by the number of quality bookings I've had through the site. One event that was particularly memorable was a booking to entertain the Cardiology staff from Glasgow Children's Hospital. Entertaining hard working NHS staff is always an honour but this one became extra special when it transpired that one of the guests was the lead surgeon that performed life saving heart surgery on my brother more than 35 years earlier. It was an absolutely fantastic evening and being so close to Halloween the guests had made a brilliant effort in dressing up. Despite an eclectic mix of music requests from the guests we made it work, seamlessly mixing the right tracks at the right time and managed to keep the dance floor packed all night. The client was very happy and provided some excellent feedback. I have recommended Add to Event to fellow entertainers and also to friends and family looking for a range of other event related services.
