What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For me as a Magician I need to know guests' numbers and if the booker is looking for everyone to see some Magic.
I need to know the location and date (very important)
But once all the basics are confirmed I need to know how the magic is going to fit into their event, this is why speaking to clients helps me so much in this area
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
First see if they have any videos that you can watch, for me, I get more bookings from people who say "we have watched your showreel and want to book you"
I would also advise if you are booking for a key event i.e wedding to not go on cost alone as each supplier for your day is going to be like a wedding guest, as a Magician I will be mingling with all your guests so you need to make sure I am a good fit.
Also I would always say to try and speak to your supplier, you can get so much more info and feel for them on the phone than you can over email
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Magician Roger Lapin started over 20 years ago, I love performing magic and doing tricks and at the age of 28 decided I could get paid to do this! So I started to advertise and built a website and bookings started to come in. It was like a dream, I couldn't believe I was getting paid for doing what I love.
Now I just love the flexibility to work where I want and when I want, I just enjoy making people gasp and laugh with wonder, it is just so uplifting to go to work and always be at a party or wedding!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I had a wedding booking recently that came through Add to Event and the process was very simple, I received the enquiry and was messaging the client on the app within a few hours. I then suggested a phone call and the booking was tied up.
I would recommend the service to other suppliers as another way to get bookings. I particularly like the feature of distance to event and travel time when the enquiry comes in.
