Nik Nack Face Painting is a professional Face Painter and can provide a vast variety of designs including glitter bar and festival braids for both children and adults and covers events from children’s parties to festivals. They share some tips on what to check when booking a face painter.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
I would need to know what sort of event they are organising i.e charity event, fun day or a private birthday party etc. I would also need to have an estimation of how many guests they are anticipating on inviting as this can change the quote dramatically. Also, the age ranges of the guests as I can only paint on children of a certain age. Also whether the event is to be held outside or inside.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would ask the customer to look at the quality of the work - a lot of face painters have work on their pages that takes a lot longer than the time that is allocated at an event - look at pictures of on the job work i.e at a child's party so that you can see the quality of work for your event. Low fees mean that the person is not necessarily experienced. People that charge a little bit more than you would expect are highly skilled, have only the best products and have the highest level insurance so you can ensure that your child will be painted well, efficiently and also hygienically!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I have always had a creative side and have always loved Halloween, Makeup and art. I did some makeup for a Halloween party over 6 years ago that I was hosting and someone told me that I should give face painting a try. I googled everything to do with the art of face painting and got in touch with a local face painting guru and off I went. I started doing face painting for a donation with Dogs Trust as I helped out at their Microchipping events. I then started Nik Nack Face Painting and it all began. I am self-taught to a degree but have also taken some classes with some highly skilled painters and I am also about to begin a course in Make Up Artistry so that I can broaden my skills. I am also a Qualified Nail Technician. I eat sleep and breathe anything to do with creative makeup whether it be Spider-Man or elaborate designs for events or parties.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
My first booking went well, the process was easy I quoted for Polly, she confirmed and paid the deposit and I confirmed the booking and also emailed her a week before to confirm the time of arrival. It was a smooth transaction and all the children and grown-ups were very happy. Would definitely recommend Add to Event and hope to gain more jobs through this site alongside the other marketing and self-promotion that I do elsewhere.
