What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide a comprehensive quote, we would like to know where the event is being held and whether it's on flat ground; and if it's big enough to have a fish and chip van. It also helps to know the type of event, for example: a wedding. It's useful to know the number of guests and the time of the event.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask them if they charge a pitch fee, a hiring fee, or a travel costs fee; make sure that the prices they charge on a daily basis don't alter dramatically just because they are catering for an event. It's always best to try some of the items. Also, look on websites and facebook for feedback etc.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have always wanted to do this but never had the funds. I was made redundant 3 years ago which enabled me to buy the van; since then, I have upgraded to a new van and business is growing daily with my regular routes and events. I'm thinking of buying another van to cater for demand.
