Salisbury's Fish & Chips have shops in Kent and Surrey but are proud to also offer a mobile catering service so that they can not only reach the people who enter their shops every week but now can reach out to postcodes they otherwise couldn't serve. They share some suggestions on what to check when booking a supplier.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a quote to our potential customers we would need the date and time of the event, a brief summary of the event they are hosting, how many guests are we catering for and the venue address. With this information, we will be able to give the client a comprehensive quote that will cover all their needs for the perfect event.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Mobile catering has grown at a very fast pace over the last few years, there are some great companies out there with great food and service but I would still be inclined to ask to see all their hygiene certificates, insurance policies and the like were all in place. I believe that those companies that have all their certificates and documents in place are the people most serious and passionate about their product and ultimately their business. That's the kind of business I would want to hire.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Salisbury's journey into the mobile catering business was a natural progression. We have 3 Fish and chip shops and have been in business since 1986, we have always catered for events like race nights, quiz nights etc were we would deliver large orders (up to 500 portions) we were asked a few years ago about having a presences at a community event and the idea arose from there, within 2 weeks we had acquired our van and we haven't looked back. We regularly work with the local community but we have also travelled all around the M25 serving weddings, festivals, charity events and even film crews. You can still visit a Salisburys shop for the very best quality fish and chips but now Salisbury's can also visit you!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Working with Add to Event has taken our business to a new level. We received a booking for a well known retail companies HQ and we served lunch for 360 people, we had a window of 2 hrs and we had to be on our game to make sure all were fed and back to their desks by the end of lunchtime and I'm proud to say we did it! The client was so happy that they have had us back on three more occasions and we are booked in for a monthly visit throughout 2019. I have recommended Add to Event to several caterers and I can honestly say its open doors I would have otherwise had to work years to build the reputation to open through word of mouth. They are not just a company they are part of our team!
