The Pantry
The Pantry provides Street food for your event and covers Scotland and North England. Their delicious street food is served from a converted horsebox and is the perfect addition to your event. Here they share some of their insights on key information you should be asking when booking a caterer for your event.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
Every event is totally different and exciting in their own way! We love to tailor ourselves to your needs wherever we can!
In order for us to give you an accurate quote and example of what we could feasibly provide for you, ideally, we need to know your rough numbers, the type of event you are holding and information about the venue (including water access and electricity).
Then there's always the more fun things that help, such as any themes you are looking for, or any examples of catering or drinks you would love to have involved!
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It's always a good idea to have done your research! Check out reviews, or if you have time, drop into one of their public-serving spaces if they have one. When looking at suppliers, take a look around their website and social media to get a feel for the style and whether it fits into the event you are looking to have catered. Caterers can still be great at what they do, but just not match the vibe you are going for. I would also suggest where possible arranging a meeting with your potential caterer. Emails are great but you can get such a feel for who you are chatting to just by sitting and having a coffee!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The Pantry has always been a family business, owned and operated by a husband and wife team. Starting in 2012 in Stockbridge, the Pantry has expanded to having 3 units across Edinburgh, as well as a thriving and bustling events arm to the business. The Pantry Events has been running for 2 years, bringing a ton of experience and innovation, as well as a comforting and calming approach to helping you plan and run the perfect event.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event is a brilliant platform for individuals and businesses alike to find their perfect match. A huge part of our business is based around weddings, which we mostly have coming directly to us, however, we find Add to Event helps us to find events outside of weddings and allows us to do something different!
Our favourite was probably for a surprise 50th birthday at a private house. The birthday boy had no idea, and the look on his face when he arrived to a tuck truck in the driveway, serving up spicy quesadillas with a variety of fillings, alongside fried churros, a fresh margarita being shaken up just for him, and all his friends and family sporting sombreros yelling surprise!
It's moments like this that make it all worthwhile!
