What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide an accurate and relevant quote, it's helpful to know the date & venue, what type of bar (indoor, outdoor, horsebox etc) and the approximate number of guests. It is also helpful to know how you wish the bar to run - ie, are you planning to pay for all or some of the drinks, or for your guests to pay. Do you want to have a tab running, use tokens or have an all-inclusive package? What drinks are you thinking of providing on arrival, cocktails? Bubbles? beers? Are you having a meal, and if so, do you want the bar to supply wine, water or soft drinks? Will there be speeches, and if so, do you want toasting bubbles?

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure the company has the experience, uses appropriate staff, and has a complete service - set up, serve, break down and clear away. Check what glassware is provided and if top-ups are included in all-inclusive packages. Ask about how drinks will be kept chilled, and what variety of drinks will be available. If draught beer is being offered, check that it's a new barrel and that you are not paying for the whole barrel upfront.

The Dawdling Duck came about after we witnessed the poor service, excessive pricing and limited choice at the wedding we attended. We wanted to create a business based on value, service and attention for detail. It is our mission to ensure we do everything to make your event as perfect as possible.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have only recently started using Add to Event, and as our main business is weddings (which are booked many months in advance) our first booking is not until the summer. However, we now have several confirmed in our diary, and we have a very busy summer ahead of us. We have found the Add to Event platform simple to use, value for money and very supportive in ensuring quick and effective communication with our clients.
