Yum Street provide Indian street food fresh on-site and can cater to all kinds and sizes of events. They have all their own equipment and can bring something different to your event. Read on for more about what they do and the tips they supply for helping you choose a caterer for your event.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
We need to know what the client is looking for, street food, plated or buffet service. A brief description of the event, what they would like for the big day, what are you celebrating, is it indoors or outdoors, number of guests and the venue. Once we have this we can put together a customised quote and menu.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You want to find caterers who are almost as enthusiastic about your event then you are. Do they sound like they care about what you want or looking for? Most importantly do they sound like they know what they are doing. Ask questions about what equipment they will be using, what their set up looks like, what kind of events have they done in the past and what food hygiene rating they have.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Yum Street started as a small street food stand at our local market. We were bored of office politics and wanted to do something totally different. Fast forward 11 years and we have catered at some the UK's biggest music festivals including Glastonbury, & Download, major sporting events and some amazing private events. We wanted to do and create something that was fun and genuinely amazing and I think we achieved it.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We have catered at lots of different events and loved them all but our first Add to Event booking was a wedding for a lovely couple. They both were from different cultural backgrounds and concerned people may not like the food. We created a menu that blended both their heritages together and met everyone's needs and finished the night with a very naughty dessert.
