What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and potential venue, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable equipment list and design.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly, ask the provider about the product they are offering, are they covered by PLI and is their gear PAT tested? Ask the provider about the services they are providing and how much experience they have. Do they carry back-up gear "just in case"? Also, find out about their equipment as better equipment will mean they give a better quality silky sound.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I myself have been involved with music since the late 70's, as a DJ in a Walsall night club and as a Roadie.
I've always enjoyed singing and I bought my first Karaoke set up in 2003. Over the years I have bought better quality lights, speakers, mics and a vast catalogue of both music & Karaoke tracks.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We've had some fantastic gigs via this website. One was supplying the PA for the homecoming gig of 2015 X Factor winner Ben Haenow. His family were so impressed. I have done numerous gigs for weddings, birthdays & some fundraising gigs too. I have had an extremely personal one, when I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Lung cancer; I raised over £680 that night. Sadly, the most memorable was a ladies 50th and last Birthday. She had terminal cancer and we certainly gave her a night to remember.
