What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order for us to provide the best quote possible, we need to know the date and venue, how many guests they intend to have at the event and then we need to understand what the layout will be inside the marquee with this amount of guests. This will allow us to understand what size of marquee is required, we will then establish how long the marquee is required for and what kind of surface it will be on. Once we have all this information we can provide a quote.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would say the customer should do some research into the provider to understand what they have to offer. I would also say that the customer should be open with the provider about what they want from them, by doing this then the job will run more smoothly since the expectations are set out early on. It is also important for the customer to know what insurance providers have in place and what are their health and safety procedures.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The Shindig Co. started up at the start of 2020 after realising that marquees provide a great middle-ground between indoor and outdoor events. On top of this, we realised that most marquees hire companies usually have lots of add ons and by the time it gets to what the customer needs it is well above the prices advertised. We can see ourselves becoming a full events company as we grow.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We have only joined recently and haven't yet had an event that has come through Add to Event, but we have a couple organised for later in the summer.
