What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To enable us to send a client an accurate quotation for marquee hire, ideally we need the date of the event and location, the number of guests they would like to accommodate or space available if known. We also like to know the type of event i.e. party/ standing or with relaxing furniture, seated at tables or buffet, some seated some standing. It is also helpful to know if the structure is going on grass or hard standing as this has a price impact. Basically the more information you can give the easier it will be for us to send you the right quotation for you, so things like if you want a casual finish or formal, do you need a catering marquee, a dance floor or internal furniture can all help getting it accurate.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Marquee and big top hire is hard work but also great fun and incredibly rewarding. My husband Paul with whom I run the company, grew up around big tops, so has always loved the different designs and styles that are constantly evolving. We have been supplying structures to clients for over 20 years and during that time have worked with numerous styles. We have a great database of clients from individuals, charities, churches, event companies, party planners to corporate clients and have worked on a huge variety of different events. The type of functions you are helping clients with are often big milestones in their lives or business such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, product launches and charity fundraisers. It still always amazes me how the same base marquee can look so different for reach client, their vision and ideas put their own stamp on it so it is lovely to see the events develop from planning to fruition. We have the same enthusiasm now as we did all those years ago when we first started, it never becomes mundane.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have been really pleased with the level of enquiries and bookings we receive from Add to Event, it is a great platform for clients to get lots of information from one source and to help them find the right supplier for their event. As a supplier you can view enquiries from your selected area and decide if you can be of assistance before you quote, if any of the enquiries aren't suitable then know that the client will still get the service they need from one of the other providers.
