What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to be able to provide an accurate quote to a client, we firstly need to know the date of the event and what type of event is being organised (e.g. a wedding, birthday party or corporate event). Secondly we need to know what type of service the client is interested in (e.g. pre-paid bar or a cash bar), and if they are interested in pre-paid options or any form of package then we need to know their budget. Thirdly, we need to know the location and time of the event, as well as how many guests are to be in attendance.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

This industry is very competitive and the majority of businesses will look to attract clients with low prices or "free services" and then will try to sell essential parts of their service for higher prices. An example in this industry would be advertising free mobile bar hire but then charging a premium for glassware hire, refrigeration and travel. A select few businesses like ours offer a genuinely free upfront service, inclusive of all of the aforementioned essential services and it is important to be aware of these pitfalls before making a reservation. As an industry standard mobile bar companies will require guaranteed amount to be spent on the bar at the event, these are usually in the region of £750-£1000 - make sure you ask specifically about the minimum spend and how this is enforced.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

At Your Service was founded by myself and my partner who both spent our late teens and early twenties working in bar management and hospitality. With a passion for customer service and mixology we set out to create this business as a stepping stone to owning bars. What ended up happening is this business took off far beyond all expectations and now has been put as the sole focus. We set out to provide excellent customer service at events and a stress-free reservation process for our clients. We like to take as much of the pressure of the event organiser as possible. We also make great cocktails!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Since starting with Add To Event around 2 years ago we have taken approximately 30% of our reservations through this platform. We have used a number of similar websites that attempt to connect suppliers to event organisers and this platform has been far more successful than any others used previously.

All the bookings taken through Add to Event have been for weddings or birthday parties and are generally very successful events!
