What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
We want to make our event special. To tailor your Disco experience it helps us to know the event date, times starting and ending. The type of event makes a lot of difference too. If you are having a wedding with a theme, or a Birthday party for a 21-year-old is different from a 60th!
Know the venue and a contact number for the venue is good too. We like to contact them and find out about any special requirements they need, insurance copies, max wattage, some venues have decibel cut-offs.
From all this information we will make RT's Discos give you and your guests a wonderful experience.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Question, question, questions. Ask everything you can....
I would ask how much are you for my event? How long do you need to set up? Will you interact with the guests? Can you do Karaoke? Do you have pictures or reviews, can I see you working. And the best one I advise people to ask is " Can I come to one of your gigs coming up?" I am more than happy for anyone to come to any of my gigs, with the organiser's permission of course. That way you can hear how good my system is and see how good it is and most importantly how special your event will be when hosted by RT's Discos!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
RT's Disco's started about 3 years ago when I was trying to find a cheap way of running a quiz night for the football team I coach. I called DJs... WOW, I was not prepared for how much they charged! I wasn't quoted less than £250 for 1 night in Kingskettle.
In the end, I bought a fender passport PA and a couple of lights from eBay and done the quiz /disco myself. Having been in Bands as a singer, I later added karaoke at home and expanded the system. I had the world’s best home Karaoke!
But it’s an expensive hobby, by the time the summer was up I had spent over £2000 on lights, DJ things. And while I was having a great time my wife was not pleased with my Hobby!
So, I started doing friends parties and refined my techniques. Being an IT guy, the special light shows, slideshows, projectors and other great added on extras others can’t give you, well they came naturally and give a finished product superior I feel.
And I never forget why I started this, so I regularly do charity gigs at little or no cost and even my main gigs are cheaper than others. I want you to dance without care and not worrying that the DJ is charging more than a doctor’s wages!
Being a Foster carer and Children's football coach I also revel in Kids parties and find them so much fun I always smile for days afterwards. It's so good seeing so much joy in their faces as they party away and play games.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I haven't had an Add to Event booking .... YET, but am looking forward to some in the very near future. I have had very good reviews at a wide selection of events in the past, Weddings, Birthdays, Charity events and celebrations of all types!
