What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a suitable quote to a customer we need the following basic information.
The date, the venue location, type of event, which floor in the location, load in/out access, indoor or outdoor, expected budget, performance times and types of music required.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Do not playlist an entire evening's music. This often leads to a disaster as the guests may not like all of your albums played one after the other. Why would you hire a DJ when your Spotify list will do? The DJ will often be blamed for your guests not dancing and leaving early because they do not like the music he is playing when it is the host's fault! Give the mobile DJ an idea of the types of music from the onset when requesting a quote, he knows his job. Ban mobile phones from your event.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Magnum Roadshow was born from an idea on how to raise money to buy a school minibus on July 10th 1973. The function was arranged executed and then other bookings started coming in off the back of that one function. 2 more years and that's the big 50.
